PASTOR'S STORY

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”

This Proverb from the sixteenth chapter is illustrated beautifully as God has taken me and my family the long way around the mountain to arrive with Him, in this moment, as pastor at Redwood Alliance Church. I grew up the youngest of 4 children to an Alliance pastor (25 years) in Mountain Lake, MN. During my formative years, I experienced what many might describe as a “call” to ministry - yet it took many years of brokenness and the redemption of Christ for this to become a reality. After equal stints in the restaurant world, manufacturing, and youth ministry, the Lord cleared the way for our arrival into full-time, pastoral ministry.

I studied and graduated with a degree in “Children and Family Ministry” from John Brown University in Arkansas. After college, my first wife made it clear that our future was over as she had pursued a relationship with another man. I moved back to Minnesota broken and lost. Jesus met me in these years, providing restoration to my heart and a deep and abiding love for Jesus, my Savior and true friend. I met my wife, Brittany, when I joined the worship team at church at Mountain Lake Alliance Church.

Brittany grew up in Edgerton MN, attended Dordt College in Iowa, where she studied “Elementary Education.” She served at Mountain Lake Christian School in various capacities over the course of 15 years, prior to our move to Redwood Falls. Brittany and I now enjoy parenting and discipling our two wonderful children, Norah (2012) and Evan (2014). In His sovereign and good will, the Lord saw fit that we might walk through the darkness of several miscarriages. These proved to be very difficult years that forged a deep love for one another even as we were clinging to the loving presence of Jesus.

Together, we are grateful for the Lord’s leading us to Redwood Falls and are delighted to call this community home. May Jesus be magnified in our midst!
